North East Hampshire

We are North East Hampshire. We cover Farnborough, Aldershot, Hook and Odiham.

Hi everyone! My name’s Bethan and I’m 17 and I recently finished college, studying German, Politics and Medieval & Early Modern History. I got into youth voice through my work with a charity, where I got to speak to politicians about policy and how important young peoples’ voices are, and then they introduced me to Youth Parliament! I’d love to help anyone else learn about their potential, or help them contribute to youth voice.

Hi! My name is Irene and I’m the Supporting Member of Youth Parliament for North East Hampshire. I’ve been SMYP since August 2019, when MYP for NE Hants and my good friend Bethan Hogan let me know that the position was open, and asked if I wanted to take it until the next election. I obviously did, and I’ve been here since! I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as a member of Hampshire Youth Parliament, and have developed skills such as communication, greater knowledge of politics and current affairs, the ability to look at issues from other’s perspectives, teamwork, leadership, and organisational skills. Overall, I think that HYP amazingly fulfils the aim of the British Youth Council, which is to provide “opportunities for 11-18 year olds to use their elected voice to bring about social change through meaningful representation and campaigning
